Art and Wellbeing Project 1

‘School staff experiences of art and mental health in UK secondary schools’

We are developing an art and wellbeing programme (a series of creative sessions or workshops) for schools that could help prevent mental health issues in young people. We would like to talk to school staff so we can understand what an art and wellbeing programme should look like.

Who can take part?

We are looking for participants who work in or with UK secondary schools, who are either:

  • A visual arts teacher, OR
  • A member of staff who supports student mental health (e.g. teaching assistant, member of the pastoral team, school counsellor)

About the project

We are developing an art and wellbeing programme (a series of creative sessions or workshops) for schools that could help prevent mental health issues in young people. We would like to talk to school staff so we can understand what an art and wellbeing programme should look like.

We aim to:

  • Explore school staff’s current experiences of using visual art to promote student mental health;
  • Better understand what staff would need to support an art and wellbeing programme; and
  • Inform development of an art and wellbeing programme aimed at preventing student mental health issues
